Protected status has been extended for El Salvador

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has been extended for El Salvador eligible nationals for an additional 18 months as has been announced by the office of the Secretary for Homeland Security.   This extension will be effective on March 10, 2015 and will last sixteen months until September 9, 2016.

Those nationals who seek to extend their TPS status must re-register during the re-registration period starting January 7, 2015 until March 9, 2014. It is important to re-register as soon as possible once the 60 day period commences.

This extension permits those eligible TPS El Salvador beneficiaries to apply for a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD) which will expire on September 9, 2016. As it is possible that some of the re-registrants may not receive their new Employment Authorization document before the present one has expired, USCIS is automatically extending current TPS El Salvador EADs that have a March 9, 2015, expiration date for an additional six months.

The forms necessary to re-register and any required fees can be found on the USCIS

It is always advisable to consult with an experienced immigration attorney who is licensed and accredited in the United States of America.
