Honduras and Nicaragua Receives Extension of TPS

The Secretary for Homeland Security has announced that as of July 6, 2016, eligible nationals from Honduras and Nicaragua will qualify for an extension of the Temporary Protected Status for an additional 18 months, carrying through until January 5, 2018.

Beneficiaries from these two countries who qualify for this extension must re-register during the 60 day period that runs from May 16, 2016 through July 15, 2016. This 18 month extension will allow TPS beneficiaries to apply for a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD) if they re-register during the 60 day period and will receive a new EAD expiring on January 5, 2018.
