Senator’s Sign Bill to revive Dreamers Program

In a bi-partisan move, Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Dick Durbin for Illinois introduced a new version of a bill known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to grant legal status and a path to citizenship to undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country as children.

The proposal is facing a legal challenge from 10 states including Texas and the Trump administration extended the program in June but it is not clear if they will defend it in court.

This bi-partisan bill is likely to receive support from Democrats, some moderate Republican senators and by a number of organizations, introduced to Congress to legalize 800.000 young Dreamers protected by DACA, which includes a proposal to citizenship for these young immigrants who have been residents in this country for a long time, have graduated from high school, pursue higher education and pass a background check.
