Congress in Texas Rejects Complete Border Wall on Mexican Border

A majority of the Texas representatives for Congress have rejected building a wall along the entire border between Texas with Mexico, as proposed by President elect Donald Trump.

Of the 38 members of Congress, few offered their support to this proposal, calling instead for new policies, reinforcing the wall in some areas and adding more surveillance and federal agents to ensure more security.

Several Republican members were concerned that this wall would involve the federal government confiscating property held by families for generations.

Texas Tribune published a report on this subject and the imminent consequences affecting the state of Texas more than any other state, if this were to be carried out.

This has been an ongoing issue since 1994, when under the presidency of Bill Clinton, construction of the wall commenced, along the border from Tijuana, Mexico to San Diego, California. The most dangerous stretch of border between the U.S. and Mexico is the Arizona desert and is where most of the deaths occur.

Twenty two years to proposals and debates, several Presidents and politicians in favor and against this controversial wall.
