The  government has modified “ deferred action” programs as part of its ‘zero tolerance’ policy , which could endanger undocumented persons with a final deportation order , including parents with children suffering from some type of disability or receiving treatment for serious conditions such as cancer.

This policy change was not previously announced by the agency, but was known through undocumented immigrants with final deportation orders that received letters from the USCIS where they were informed that their deferred actions were canceled and were given a period of 33 days to leave the country.

Deferred action is a program that temporarily postpones, until the government suspends the permit, the deportation of an immigrant who has no criminal record and does not pose a threat to the national security of the United States
