USCIS Offers Temporary Relief after Extensive Damage Caused by Typhoon Soudelor
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has notified on their website that they are offering temporary immigration relief or benefits to people affected by the Typhoon Soudelor, who are in the process of legalizing their immigration status in the U.S.
For this reason USCIS has informed that individuals affected by this disaster and pending submission of their documentation to Immigration or other processes falling under that category, to enquire or check on the website to see the measures this Department has taken and which could benefit them This also applies to filing delays for interviews and extension of some deadlines.
Typhoon Soudelor has been reported as the most harmful storm of 2015 affecting the Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines and possible damage to Japan, Taiwan and China. Since the storm hit on August 2, 2015 creating so much damage, on August 6 USCIS published their news report and reminded customers in the process of immigration procedures of these temporary measures.
These temporary measures can offer relief for the following situations:
Extensions or renovations of permits or visas
Changes in non-immigrant visas
Work permits
Assistance to lawful permanent residents who are stranded overseas
Assistance for those who have not appeared for an interview or submitted required forms of evidence.
